wonder-boy walters is the upgraded nickname coined by us, curated for the marvelously multifaceted and multi-talented (only) 24-year-old actor, curran walters. sorry "play boi", "pretty boi", "fboi", "curdog", "prince charming", "model", and "gibson", you'll have to go. (not really sure why we even gave him the nickname gibson in the first place, but it doesn't matter - he has a new one now). you may be asking "WHY wonder-boy walters????" you may be wondering (no pun intended) why it isn't a traditional 'killer name' like the typically 'nicks' we've gifted his fellow alumni. however, if you've been blessed to see this lovely lad as robin in titans - just the show we've fallen hard for (like jason in season two) - you'll know that wonder-boy just another name to fit his title as robin. comic nerd us aside, all you need to know is that, in season three, he finally gets the story-arch and screen-time he's so longingly deserved, and is now (spoiler) more commonly feared as the red hood. and the red hood, formerly wonder boy, ISN'T someone to mess with...

to be completely honest, it came as a total shock when we realized he was a former disney star!! WHAT?? WE KNOW!! okay, to be fair, 'disney star' is a tad over-stating it. he played evan in the two-part ski lodge episode of girl meets world, that's it. but still!! most of the time you hear 'disney star' and you can't help but cringe. but, every time you hear 'curran walters' you can't cringe to save your life. 'disney stars' are known for their over-the-top reactions, prickly one-liners, and forced emotions, whereas curran walters just kicks ass (and we're not just talking as his character in titans). still young, his secret weapon is his natural naivety that he brings with being an adolescent, which sets him apart from most childhood stars who try way too hard to 'mature' fast like a cringy middle school emo phase.
seen best in his role as jason todd in titans, it is without a single dose of doubt to state that his character has the most complexity out of everyone in the show despite being one of the youngest. portraying the eagerness of a small child who only wants to be able to ride the big slide, curran's swift ability to layer on the complexity of jason's daddy and abandonment issues with such ease is so juicy to watch not only
as fans of the character, actor, and show but also as storytellers. especially for a character that keeps closed off and acts tougher than he is, the transparency curran fearlessly allows the audience to witness to understand jason's deep-seeded need to belong and fit in makes him a fan favorite of the show no matter where his moral compass swings (season 3 episode 3 like whoa).
entering the dccu as the comedic relief to dick grayson's ongoing mid life crisis, his rambunctious and chaotic smile was contagious from the get-go, making it obvious that he was going to be our favorite character. and looky, we were right!! his bad-boy heroism added a source of interest, serving as a growing subplot that would later (with the beautiful build of curran's powerful deliverance of jason's fractured demons) finally get him a whole season plotline. FINALLY!! let's hope he gets another one in season four. but even if he doesn't, it's still more of him, and that's all we care about!! jason todd and curran 'wonder-boy' walters.
